Our Commitment to Support Concrete Actions

Social responsibility is without a doubt in the spirit of the times. At Humania, empathy is a fundamental value that manifests itself in our involvement in various projects. Through both financial and human commitment, our company is proud to support concrete actions and to give back to the community.

Community Involvement

We are pleased once again this year to contribute to Centraide Richelieu-Yamaska’s annual campaign. A committee of employees mobilized to plan fundraising activities. Thanks to the generosity of its employees, Humania is proud to have an impact on society.

In 2014, Humania Assurance forged a partnership with the city of Saint-Hyacinthe to support a cultural centre that brings the region’s sociocultural organizations together under one roof. We will invest $300,000 over a period of 15 years, and we are proud that this building is called the Centre culturel Humania Assurance.

SOCODEVI

In addition to the financial contribution granted by Humania Assurance, President & CEO Stéphane Rochon serves on SOCODEVI’s (Société de coopération pour le développement international) Board of Directors. Since 1985, SOCODEVI has contributed to the sustainable development in partner countries with a view to empowering their inhabitants. SOCODEVI is a Canadian network of cooperatives and mutual companies that share their technical expertise and knowledge with partners in developing countries.

Humania employees are helping the company to go green.

Healthy Environment

Thanks to the “Dragons” project, Humania employees are helping the company to go green. The 2018 project to replace plastic cups with personalized and reusable mugs is good example of employees’ willingness to help the environment by changing some of their workplace behaviours.

In addition, Humania Assurance once again received its BOMA BEST environmental certification (Building Environmental Standards) in 2018. This national program includes common standards as well as assessment, education and verification tools. This recertification validates the prevention and environmental best practises promotion strategies within our company.

Véro & Louis Foundation

In 2016, the Véro & Louis Foundation was created. Its goal is to support permanent housing for adults suffering from autism. The Foundation creates living environments adapted to the needs of adults aged 21 and over with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), where they can flourish throughout their lives.

Mr. Stéphane Rochon, President & CEO of Humania Assurance, serves on the Foundation’s Board of Directors. He is very involved in the strategic committee and fundraising campaign to raise more than $16M to develop a new living concept and five homes across Québec.

Other Involvement

For 20 years, Humania has supported the professional behaviour week held by Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe for students in various programs. The company also contributes to the Fondation du Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe’s, which provides financial aid to students.

Conclusion

Humania will maintain its involvement in and its commitment to social responsibility. The health and well-being of our employees, protecting the environment and supporting the community are at the heart of our corporate culture.
